2020 Report from Kep, Cambodia I. Introduction During this year, our association has carried out several actions with the help of many partners, members and volunteers. We are based in the province of Kep in Cambodia in a region with low economic and social resources. Children have very limited access to schooling and extra-curricular activities. On site, our association offers children the opportunity to participate in various sports, playful and social activities in the company of other children, all supervised by volunteer teams. Within the center we have sports facilities such as a tennis court, a mini tennis court as well as a wall and a multi-activity field. Last year we had the pleasure of welcoming around 100 children until mid-March. They were thus offered a series of events, including the distribution of snacks and raising awareness of hygiene issues. As the tennis activity is particularly popular with children and their families, we pay particular attention to the repair of the concrete ground as well as of the adjoining welcome facility. Given the health situation linked to Covid19, Cambodian schools were closed until mid-March 2020. Sports infrastructures such as those of our association were also closed. II. Common activity Three groups of children take part in the daily activities offered by the association. The 80 children involved, 60 boys and 20 girls, are on average aged 6 to 16. Activities spread over 10 weeks are offered at a rate of 20 hours per week, 3 times a year. Each month, children who have told us about special wishes (artistic, excursions, French national holiday) have the opportunity to participate in an activity. The most involved children can participate in the tournaments that we organize for them, this allows us in particular to follow their commitment and their motivations to learn to play tennis. Our action could not take place without the support of volunteers who occupy a central place in the system. In this context, the departure of Arthur Fourdraine, one of the managers on site since 2015, was a step for our association. His wife Sokkha Hou, a former tennis student in ASKep, therefore took over. Sokkha was previously a volunteer assistant in several local missions and has long been in contact with our association. Var Srey, the main point of reference in the field, helps maintain the atmosphere, closeness and friendliness that children seek. It constitutes an essential link between the youngest and the oldest. We have decided, during this period of closure, to maintain the compensation of volunteers at 80% for Arthur then Sokkha and Var. The team of volunteers maintained the structure while the virus circulated through the country, took part in village tours to check on the health of families and provided everyone with hydroalcoholic gel. None of the ASKep children have declared any Covid infection. It should be noted that the virus is no longer circulating in Cambodia, official speech, due to the fact that the borders are now tightly controlled.
