Summary Report 2021 - Edgbaston The community programmes at Edgbaston re-commenced from May 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions in England in the first half of the year. While our physical programmes were impacted, we did try and engage with our members and players via virtual platforms including physical challenges and activities that players could do safely at home. This did have various levels of success but did assist with getting players re-engaged when programmes could restart. Leading and throughout the summer of 2021, our programmes have been busy with players getting active and engaging in Tennis again. Although we have been unable to run events and open days to help grow our programmes, we have had a strong number of players utilising our coaching programmes and venues which has been great to see. Our programmes are currently running in line with school half terms but as mentioned above, utilisation has been high. It has also been difficult to engage with our local schools this year however I am pleased to say we have been able to deliver tennis within 2 schools during Autumn term which has been a nice return to normal for our programmes and coaching team. In September 2021 we also had a change of staff with a new Head of Community starting with the hope that our community programmes will build up in 2022 post-COVID and be stronger than ever, with further community engagement with schools and organisations planned.
