Summary of activities 2024 Over the past year, we have successfully implemented the Embrace program at the Tel Aviv Tennis Center, following the difficult escalation of conflict in Israel that began on October 7, 2023. The program’s launch was challenging for all of us, especially for the children, who have experienced and are still coping with significant trauma. There is no doubt that returning to a regular routine and engaging in educational sports activities has greatly improved their emotional well-being and motivation. Due to security restrictions in Israel, it was not possible for the children to attend the Tel Aviv Tennis Center in person. Therefore, we relocated the activities to a nearby school. Our collaboration with the school was excellent throughout the duration of the program. After several months, we were able to return to a semblance of normalcy, and the activities resumed as planned. Throughout the year, we organized sports activities on the field, including special days and holiday celebrations. It was truly moving to see the children smiling and playing together after such a difficult period. The sports activities, particularly tennis, focused on helping the children manage fears, anxiety, and adapting to changes. Tennis, as an educational tool, proved to be an incredible way to engage the children and address these important challenges through play. Following a successful year of the program in Tel Aviv, we are excited to announce that for the upcoming year (September 2024 – June 2025), we will be bringing the Embrace program back to the Tel Aviv Tennis and Education Center in Jaffa, as in previous years.
